One of the best skin detox treatments is steam. The warm, moist air opens the pores, nixing blackheads and other debris. Try this alone or follow with a facial mask for a super skin detox treatment.
Boil several cups of water (purified, if possible). Pour the hot water into a large bowl, toss in some herbs if desired, put your face about 6 inches over the steam and cover with a towel for 5 to 10 minutes. Breathe in the steam through your nose for a sinus-soothing bonus. For herbs, try peppermint for oily skin, chamomile for sensitive and rose for mature. Tea bags work if you don’t have herbs on hand.
Honey brims with skin-beneficial nutrients. This unique DIY treatment cleans pores, increases circulation and moisturizes.
Apply a thin layer of raw (unpasteurized) honey to your face. Gently pat the honey all over for 5 minutes or so. The honey will become tacky to the touch. Rinse with warm water and moisturize.
Fruits contain alpha hydroxy acid, the exfoliant that you pay big bucks for in store-bought products to exfoliate, getting rid of dead skin cells.
Simply mash up some fruit such as pineapple, banana, kiwi or mango and apply to a clean face. It's a great way to use leftover fruit. Leave on skin for 5 to 15 minutes, rinse with warm water and moisturize.
